A charging point showing a fault
On a charger with several charging points, a single one can go into fault: cable, socket, lock or electronics specific to that point. Its exact label helps the technician look in the right place.
Safety first
- Never open the charger or the electrical panel: only a qualified person may work on it.
- Burning smell, abnormal heat, smoke or crackling: stop charging from the vehicle or the app, do not touch the charger again and have a professional cut its power.
- In case of smoke or flames, move away and call 112.
- Never force out a hot or damaged cable.
What you can safely check
- Note the exact label of the charging point (number or letter displayed), the message and the time, and photograph the screen.
- Try another free charging point on the same charger: if it works, the fault is specific to the first one.
- Check that the cable is fully pushed in at both ends and that the vehicle is unlocked, then restart charging.
- Do not repeat attempts in a loop and do not force the plug.
When to request a visit
- The fault comes back at every charge on this charging point.
- The cable, sheath or socket looks damaged, or the charging point gets hot: stop using it.
- For an operator: pass on the label of the charging point, a monitoring screenshot and the time of the first fault.
