Charger not working: what to do?
Pick what you see. Every sheet starts with safety.
Red light on the charger
A red light signals a fault detected by the charger itself: power supply, communication with the vehicle, internal protection. The cause can often be read from the code or the blinking pattern.
Breaker tripping while charging
A tripping breaker protects the installation: overload, insulation fault, residual current protection. Resetting it several times in a row can make a fault worse.
Cable stuck in the charger or vehicle
The cable is locked during charging to prevent unplugging under load. A jam most often comes from a charge that has not stopped or a lock that does not release.
Badge not recognised by the charger
A refused badge may come from the badge itself, its rights with the issuer, the charger’s reader or its link to the network that authorises charging.
Charging slower than usual
Slow charging is not always a fault: power depends on the vehicle, the battery, the settings and the sharing between several chargers.
Charger disconnected or offline
A connected charger needs its link (Wi-Fi, network cable or 4G) to authorise charges, count them and receive updates.
Damaged charger or cable
Vehicle impact, cracked casing, cut or crushed cable, burn marks, water inside: a damaged charger can expose you to an electric shock.
