Charger stuck in maintenance or preparing
A charger shows a waiting state during an update, a restart or a remote operation by its operator. If this state does not clear, the charger may be stuck.
Safety first
- Never open the charger or the electrical panel: only a qualified person may work on it.
- Burning smell, abnormal heat, smoke or crackling: stop charging from the vehicle or the app, do not touch the charger again and have a professional cut its power.
- In case of smoke or flames, move away and call 112.
- Never force out a hot or damaged cable.
What you can safely check
- Note the exact message and how long it has been displayed, and photograph the screen.
- Check the operator’s app or website: maintenance or an update is sometimes announced there.
- Try another charging point or another charger on the site.
- Do not cut the charger’s power to force it to restart.
When to request a visit
- The message stays displayed although no maintenance is announced.
- The charger returns to this state at every charging attempt.
- For an operator: the charger no longer responds to remote commands from the monitoring system.
