Charging does not start or stops straight away
Before charging, the charger and the vehicle communicate through the cable. A session that fails straight away often comes from this exchange: plug not fully in, cable, vehicle setting or charger fault.
Safety first
- Never open the charger or the electrical panel: only a qualified person may work on it.
- Burning smell, abnormal heat, smoke or crackling: stop charging from the vehicle or the app, do not touch the charger again and have a professional cut its power.
- In case of smoke or flames, move away and call 112.
- Never force out a hot or damaged cable.
What you can safely check
- Check that the plug is pushed in fully at both ends and that the vehicle is unlocked, then restart charging.
- Look at the vehicle’s charging settings: charging scheduled for another time, charge limit already reached.
- Try another charging point, another charger or another vehicle: you will know which side to look at.
- Note the message shown by the charger and by the vehicle, and the time of the attempt.
When to request a visit
- Charging fails with every vehicle on this charger.
- An error message comes back at every attempt.
- The plug or cable looks damaged, or gets hot.
