Emergency stop button pressed in

The emergency stop shuts the charger down for safety. It may have been pressed by mistake or because someone saw a danger: before resetting it, you need to know why.

Safety first

  • Never open the charger or the electrical panel: only a qualified person may work on it.
  • Burning smell, abnormal heat, smoke or crackling: stop charging from the vehicle or the app, do not touch the charger again and have a professional cut its power.
  • In case of smoke or flames, move away and call 112.
  • Never force out a hot or damaged cable.

What you can safely check

  1. Do not reset the button yourself: the charger could start again on a fault that someone wanted to stop.
  2. Look from a distance for any sign of danger: impact, damaged cable, burning smell, water.
  3. Note which chargers are stopped and photograph the button and the screen.
  4. Notify the charger’s operator, with the time and what you saw.

When to request a visit

  • Always: resetting and checking the charger is a job for the operator or a certified technician.
  • Several chargers or the whole station are stopped.
  • Damage, a smell or unusual heat is visible: do not touch the charger any more.
