Cable stuck in the charger or vehicle
The cable is locked during charging to prevent unplugging under load. A jam most often comes from a charge that has not stopped or a lock that does not release.
Safety first
- Never open the charger or the electrical panel: only a qualified person may work on it.
- Burning smell, abnormal heat, smoke or crackling: stop charging from the vehicle or the app, do not touch the charger again and have a professional cut its power.
- In case of smoke or flames, move away and call 112.
- Never force out a hot or damaged cable.
What you can safely check
- Stop charging from the vehicle or the app, then unlock the vehicle.
- Many vehicles have an emergency release for the socket, described in their manual: follow it.
- Do not pull by force: you would damage the cable, the socket or the lock.
When to request a visit
- The cable stays stuck on the charger side after charging has stopped.
- The lock or the socket looks damaged.
- The jam comes back at every charge.
